| Sometimes, another 21 grams of Don Quixote. A senseless death, leading to three burials and a search with a cadaver through Mexico, Arriaga (the screenwriter here before Babel, Ammores Perros, 21 Grams), as always in the tissues of global issues and personal political and poetic, with a skill and restraint not often seen. Ostensibally a modern western, this Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, The movie shares with the other a seemingly simple case told through a variety of characters and timelines, great. | I initially did not like the idea of the plot. It seemed a little too much of a pro-immigration act of PC-ing in its premise. And in the beginning, the plot moves in that direction ... border guard (Barry Pepper) is too cartoonishly as "bad" "stupid" Bumbling, while the characters are almost universally sympathetic Mexico. The cover of the shooting of Melquiades also draw a line between good and evil characters is a little more to say or not found in any way sufficient. Then Pete (Tommy Lee Jones) begins to receive more as an ambiguous character and Mexican characters, including Melquiades, become just a hair over three-dimensional. The DVD movie Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, The recovers a bit. It is also well-shot in a beautiful landscape and feel as if you get to see an interesting little world. They also draw a very nice meeting with an elder in the way it is memorable. |

| What a smart and successful film. If you like Cormac McCarthy - the original story in an environment similar to No Country for Old Men - is a pleasure. It's like finding a real Rolex in a dustbin of crappy watches. Tommy Lee Jones captures the saddle rawhide quirkiness men - cowboys - cowboys. Facing it is his art (OK not so nice) in motion. It is a story of redemption without moralizing or preaching. Give it a serious issue. It's a beautiful shot, well told and rewarding film. |
